Discover the lost art of book-edge painting and turn an ordinary book into a beautiful work of art. In this creative, hands-on three-week workshop series, you’ll learn the full process—from preparation and design to painting, sealing, and long-term care—ending with a finished, functional keepsake you’ll treasure.

This series is designed to move at a relaxed, supportive pace, giving you time to learn the technique, refine your work, and achieve a polished final result. No prior experience is needed.

What you’ll learn & do:

• Week 1 — January 4
  Learn the Technique

  • Intro to book-edge painting history

  • Learn materials, brushes, and paint types

  • Prepping the book

  • Start design outline for your book

  • Optional open studio session: Friday, Jan 9, 4:00–6:00pm

   Week 2 — January 11
  In-Class Work Session

  • Students paint their edges

  • Instructor walks table-to-table guiding

  Week 3 — January 18
  Detailing & Sealing

  • Final touch-ups

  • Seal the book edge

  • Photos + take-home care tips

Personalize your design

After registering, we’ll reach out to review your design idea and confirm it’s a good fit for edge painting. Simple, graphic designs work best. If you’re unsure what to choose, you’re welcome to ask for suggestions, decide together during class, or select from predesigned options provided.

Bring your own book

Participants should bring a book they’re comfortable painting on (hardcover or paperback). We’ll help confirm your book is suitable and guide you through the prep process.

By the end of the series, you’ll leave with a fully finished, sealed book and the confidence to explore decorative edges on future projects.
